Project Management is a critical part of leadership. Project Management as a process: the following are steps that are taken to complete a project, Defining and organizing the Project, Planning, (adjusting), manage and execution, and closing it down (HBE, 2004, para. 1) These steps should be used for any size project such as, developing online tools, a construction project, or even ongoing projects such as the approach taken to complete weekly tasks. Whether a project is big or small there is a framework to the approach to ensure a successful completion.(2004, pg. 5)
Competency in Leadership: I used the process of project management when me and my team failed a Quality Assurance Safety Audit. My organization has a 3rd party do quarterly inspections of our stores if fail the Audit we are given an opportunity to create a plan, and execute this plan. As a manager I used the audit to define and organize the areas that needed improvement, sent a letter to my team, shared the action plan, followed up with each Shift supervisor, and adjusted the plan as needed. Our measurable goal was when we delivered a clean, safe, and ready store with a 95% score on our audit. My team and I were able to sustain a clean, safe and ready store for our customers for the next 3 years.
