The core competency in group dynamics and communication is the ability to build and sustain strong relationships. This is achieved by being transparent, vulnerable, and genuine with your team. In my experience it is important to understand the needs, skill set, and goals of each team member which will allow you to meet them where they are and support their development.
ARTIFACT FROM OGL 360- Each member was assigned a different section to contribute to the group project. Our course was an online community so we had to coordinate time zones, and work schedules to attend weekly group meetings to discuss our project, update each other on our individual progress, and share the information we gathered for our part of the project. What this taught me was how to navigate online communication in meetings, planning and updating documents, and creating a final project without ever meeting in person.
REFLECTION-Looking back at this assignment reminds me of how nervous I was to meet the other members of our online group! It turned out to be a great experience. After our initial meeting it felt like we had known each other for a long time. We supported each other and could ask any member for feedback or help. This group project was a positive experience because everyone was transparent about what their strengths and limitations were and by doing so we successfully completed our project.
